Lin Tao, Associate Professor
Profile:
Lin Tao, Doctor, Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, is an overseas high level "Peacock Plan" talent (C category) in Shenzhen. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Wuhan University in 2010 and his doctorate degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2014; he then went to Germany to undertake post-doctoral work at the Technical University of Munich and worked at Southern University of Science and Technology after returning to China; in 2018, he joined the School of New Materials and New Energy of Shenzhen Technology University. His research work focuses on surface physical chemistry. He uses the scanning tunneling microscopy under ultra-high vacuum conditions to study the self-assembly and chemical reactions of organic molecules on solid surfaces and their physical and chemical properties at the molecular level, and also uses Monte Carlo dynamics, Monte Carlo simulations, and density flooding theory calculations to understand molecular self-assembly and chemical reactions at the molecular scale. He is currently conducting a systematic and in-depth study of molecular self-assembly and organic chemical reactions based on hydrogen-bonded ligand bonding on metal surfaces, and has achieved several results. He has published over 30 papers in international journals including Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and ACS Nano, with over 700 citations. He is currently serving as a reviewer for a number of journals, including Angewandte Chemie International Edition and Chemistry - A European Journal.
