From December 10 to 13, 2021, the International Symposium on Solar Fuel (IWSF) was successfully held at Holiday Inn Wuhan Qingchuan, China. Initiated by Professor Yu Jiaguo, academician of the European Academy of Sciences, and jointly organized by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Shenzhen University of Technology, Changsha College, Jianghan University and Huaibei Normal University, the conference is an interdisciplinary, borderless and rich academic exchange seminar. Dean Han Peigang of the School of New Materials and New Energy of our university was invited to attend the conference, and teachers in related research fields and a number of graduate students also attended the conference.

The conference covered 8 conference reports, 15 thematic reports, 69 invitation reports, 10 oral reports and 92 poster presentations. More than 300 experts and scholars from well-known universities and research institutions at home and abroad such as the United States, Japan, South Korea and other well-known universities and research institutions and teachers and students in related fields attended the international conference. In order to ensure the safety of epidemic prevention and control, the conference was held in a combination of "online + offline", with scholars from foreign countries and medium- and high-risk areas in China communicating online "screen-to-screen", and the rest of the participants communicating "face-to-face" offline. During the conference, based on their latest research results, the teachers had a wide and intense discussion on many issues in solar fuel photocatalysis research, which was very fruitful.

The teachers and students of our school listened carefully to the wonderful reports of well-known experts and scholars in the field, and conducted extensive and in-depth academic exchanges and discussions with many participants. In the poster display and selection session, the poster of Huang Jiangtao, a doctoral student in the College of New Materials and New Energy, received unanimous praise and won the "Excellent Poster Award".

This conference is a large-scale academic conference with international influence, and the joint holding of this conference not only further broadens the channels of publicity work of our university, expands the international influence and popularity of our university, but also promotes the cooperation and exchange between our university and high-level universities and research institutes at home and abroad. In addition, this conference also provides a communication platform for scholars and students who are interested in the development of our university, which is conducive to absorbing outstanding high-level talents in the field of new energy materials and providing talent support for our university to build a high-level international applied university.

The successful holding of this joint conference has further strengthened the cooperation and exchange between our university and high-level universities and research institutions at home and abroad, and laid the foundation for our university to hold large-scale international conferences with academic influence alone. In the next step, we will actively contact experts and scholars in related fields, strengthen cooperation, and strive to hold an international academic conference at Shenzhen University of Technology next year.
