Han Yulai, Associate Professor

Profile:

Han Yulai, Doctor of Engineering, Associate Professor, Shenzhen Overseas High-level Peacock Plan Talent (Category C). He received his doctorate in engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Takashi Kato of the Faculty of Chemistry and Life Sciences of the University of Tokyo. He then went to the University of California, Riverside for postdoctoral research and joined Shenzhen Technology University in 2016. Since 2019, he has been the deputy secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of New Materials and New Energy. Associate Professor Han Yulai has conducted a series of researches on the design and synthesis of organic-inorganic composite materials based on the theory and methodology of biomineralization. He has identified the mechanism of stimulating the corresponding polymer brush template to crystalline orientation, which provides an important reference for the construction of functional composite film materials with controllable structure and orientation on complex surfaces. His work on calcium phosphate biomineralization has enabled the ordered and controlled construction of two-dimensional polymer/hydroxyapatite composite film materials with surface morphology and crystalline shape. This has laid an important foundation for the development of bioactive composite materials. The subject team is still working on the construction of bionic functional composites, funded by the Shenzhen Science and Technology Commission and other related projects. Undergraduate students are welcome to join the lab for practical teaching and training. Postgraduate students with chemistry and materials background are also welcome to join the lab!

Academic Background:

Dr. Han Yulai studied polymer materials and engineering at Taiyuan University of Technology from 2001 to 2005 and received his Bachelor of Engineering degree. In 2005, he entered Tsinghua University to receive his master's degree in the School of Polymer Science and Technology under the supervision of Professor Wang Xiaogong of the School of Polymer Science and Technology. In the same year, he was selected for the Tsinghua University-Tokyo Institute of Technology dual-degree master's program, where he studied under Professor Shinji Ando of the Faculty of Organic Polymer Materials. In 2008, he received a dual-degree master's degree in engineering from Tsinghua University (materials science) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (organic polymer materials). In 2011, he was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan to pursue his doctoral studies in Chemistry and Life Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Tokyo under the supervision of Prof. Takashi Kato, and received his doctorate in engineering in 2014.

Work Experience:

Associate Professor Han Yulai worked at Nagase Sangyo Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) from 2009 to 2011. After obtaining his doctorate in engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2014, he joined the University of California, Riverside to conduct postdoctoral research. He joined the School of New Materials and New Energy at Shenzhen Technology University in 2016.
