Ruan Shuangchen, Professor
Prof. Ruan Shuangchen received his doctorate degree from Tianjin University in 2004. From 1993 to 1994, he studied at Imperial College, UK, and was promoted to professor in 1994. Prof. Ruan has long been engaged in the research of fiber lasers, nonlinear properties of fibers, and ultrafast optical devices. He has published more than 100 papers and co-edited the book "Chinese-English Glossary of Optics and Optical Communication", published by Science Press in 2004, and co-authored the book "New Advances in Optical Fiber Sensing Technology", published by Science Press in 2005. Prof. Ruan has been awarded once the third prize of National Science and Technology Progress, once the first prize, four times the second prize, and twice the third prize of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress. He has been honored as National Outstanding Teacher, Shenzhen Model Worker, Shenzhen Top Ten Outstanding Youth and Top Ten Outstanding Youth of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He won the Second Prize of the Young Scientist Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Sixth China Youth Science and Technology Award, and the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Optical Society (Wang Daheng Optical Award).
